SM Entertainment CEO Lee Soo-man’s family affairs were revealed Monday by his celebrity colleagues.
On Channel A’s talk show “Heard it Through the Grapevine,” the hosts revealed what they know about Lee and his family, describing Lee as a “devoted father and a perfect husband.”
“Lee’s wife was diagnosed with cancer in 2012. She passed away in 2014 after struggling with the disease, and during those two years Lee always stayed at her side. He is known to have cared for her around the clock, despite his busy schedule as a CEO. He loved his wife so much that when she contracted a sun allergy due to the cancer, he bought a separate house in the suburbs of L.A.,” Kang Il-hong, managing editor of local news outlet the Fact, said.
Lee, who began his career as a singer and host, married his late wife in 1988. The couple is known to have met in the U.S. when he was studying computer graphics at UCLA.

“His son also made headlines when he followed Lee to a Stanford University speech for translation,” Kang said.
“Heard it Through the Grapevine” is a show where reporters and celebrities are invited to reveal and discuss celebrity rumors, and airs every Monday at 11 p.m.
