The new online buzzword “byh48” might have the mind boggling as to what it refers to, but for those who, like actor Lee Dong-hwi, thought it was a shotgun, it’s not.

“Byh48” is a nickname given to a group of rising Korean stars ? including Lee -- with actor Byun Yo-han as its pivotal member.

The group consists of many famous actors and popular musicians, including EXO’s Suho, Ryu jun-yeol and Jisoo. According to a local media outlet, Byun Yo-han is the lynchpin of the group.

The name “byh48” was created by their fans as a parody of AKB48, a Japanese girl group. The first three letters stand for Byun Yo-han as he is the core member of the “gang.”

After learning about the real meaning of the nickname, Lee burst out laughing and promised to explain it to the all the others in the group.
